Mechanical seal

A mechanical seal is the most secure way to isolate vessel’s gas space from the atmosphere. Mechanical seals always require a buffer liquid system except single acting. UTG applies single, double or triple acting mechanical seals depending on the required sealing security of the vessel.

Stuffing box

A stuffing box is a simple and extremely robust shaft seal for isolating the reactor gas space from the atmosphere without pressure differences. Stuffing boxes do not require a buffer fluid system.

Liquid seal

Liquid seal

A liquid seal or so called water trap is the simplest solution. Since there is no mechanical contact, liquid seals have no wearing parts and do not require regular maintenance. Liquid seals may be applied for moderate pressure differences. Up to 700 mm, an H2O pressure liquid seal is the most reliable and secured sealing system.

Oil slinger

Oil slinger

An oil slinger is suitable for open tank covers to prevent the contamination of process fluid by gear oil or grease.

Sealing is required for isolating the reactor gas space from the ambient atmosphere, for example due to pressure differences or hazardous gas.
